"20160719 Osmena Peak (Mount Labalasan) Rush Dayhike
Personal Itinerary
Synopsis:
Contracted trip on Monday, to be executed at Tuesday. Physical condition goes at top shape. Third hike. Trail described as short and easy, with a provincial feel of vegetative landscape and low forestation. Group pace was fast but probably intended to produce body heat that will counter the ambient temperature. Ascent to wait clearance of fog did not happen as planned, but momentary clearance showed Chocolate-Hills-esque expanse and South Cebu coastline. Overall, a frigid but feel-good climb involving patience to await visual treat.

"The Trek to the Camp for the night
We were told that the camp for the night would be just around an hour walk from the motorbike stop. But since the last trek, I promised myself to be on constant guard. Looking back, the 15-minute “habal2x” ride to Lumpan was quite scary. The road was cemented but there were some steep areas where I feared that it would just gave in and eject Analyn, Kat & me. I was very happy when finally, I saw the other trekkers. Thankful that the scary ride was finally over. A word of advice: It’s better to ride the “habal2x” with just 2 passengers.

"It was an answered prayer – climbing without the rains and winds on our feet. The 4th climb with BRB and yet a first fair weathered climb. Yay! No sleeping wet experienced at Osmeña Peak. Cold winds and slippery trek in both Talinis and Canlaon climbs.

" I joined "Sunburn 2000", a 4-day mountain traverse from Dauin to Valencia, Negros Oriental. The two sidelights of this event, participated by a 17-strong party, were the ascent of the two "cuernos" or "horns" of Negros. I was part of 7-member contingent that summitted the highest peak of Mt Cuernos de Negros or Talinis.
There is no established trail to the summit from Nailig Lake. Our climbing party followed a barely discernible trail hacked by the Rodriguez party in the previous year." — dennis5033 • Apr 22, 2000
"Our party arrived in Raja Sikatuna Natural Park in Bilar, Bohol in the morning on Holy Thursday. In the afternoon, we climbed Bilar Peak, using the summit trail. The climb to the wooded summit was accomplished in barely one hour of walk-up." — dennis5033 • Apr 9, 1998
