I was out exploring the area or Geocaching and there are several old mines in the area to look at, the one I was intrested in was home to my Geocache. This was a reallly nice area and apparently a great place to hang glide. There is a landing zone at the bottom and several wind driction poles across the top. The valley bellow near Randolph is beautiful from up here. I didn't get a peak picture , but will post one when I go back.
Route up/down: Crawford Mt. Road
I was out breaking in some snowshoes with a great group of Geocachers. They go by the name Seventh Day Adventurous, this was there 43rd hike since the group started and 41 of those are different trails. Once a month, Year around, this was my second trip out with them. It was a cold and Hazy, but we had a great time climbing out of the muck. We hit a couple of peaks and crossed a few canyons, it was a nice hike in about a foot of powder. This is a great trail for snowshoeing.
Route up/down: Wild Rose Loop
Started across from the Zoo today and made my way up to the Beacon. It started out nice and steady and turned into a steeper hike pretty rapidly. The views along the way a great and the trail is in good shape. I then continued down along the North ridge and West to the Living Room Area. Ran Out of time so I had to come back off the ridge and down through the canyon. I can't wait to come back and do this in the spring.
Route up: Across from the Zoo
Route down: Started next to Huntsman Chemical
I wanted to go back up to Chilly and see how it looked covered in Snow. Of course I was not disappointed, I had a great hike and took some nice pictures.
Route up/down: North Ogden Divide
I wanted to try this peak out in the snow. It was a fun trip, but had to stop 400' short of the actual peak. It got a little to icy without any special equipment and had to turn around. I think I like the climb more in the winter for sure.
Route up/down: Frary Peak Trailhead
It wasn't a bad hike, saw some intresting things. It is kind of long and drawn out, but the last .5 miles are really fun along the ridge.
I didn't know what this one was until I noticed it on Peaks close to Frary Peak. Yes, I went over to it to check out some cliff areas they had on the South side of it. There is a very good game trail that leads to the rocky area. I know it wasn't an actual trail, but it was well traveled.
I decided to go past this one and catch it on the way back from Ferry Peak. It doesn't take to long to get to the top of Dooly Knob once you are at the Trail Junction. There are some cool views and playing around on the rocks was fun. I think this would be a great winter outing.
This was great hike. The trails are in good shape and going up to Chilly was actual pretty nice. It doesn't look like much from a distance, but once on top it offers some great views and interesting surroundings. Be aware of a the ground on the Peak it is opening up in spots.
