"The weather was a little iffy with such a long exposed hike. But all we got was some clouds and light winds on Knife Edge. We went up Helon Taylor from Roaring Brook Trailhead. Pamola Peak was socked in. A lot of blowing fog around the Chimney. But generally ok across Knife Edge to Baxter Summit. Down Saddle and out Chimney Pond Trail." — Alohabuffy • Sep 6, 2023
"Hiked up pamola peak via the chimney pond and dudley trails. We were originally going to continue onto Baxter peak but due to small amounts of snow and ice making the chimney look hard to ascend as well as wanting to descend comfortably before sunset, we descended on helon taylor tr back to roaring brook. It was still a great hike with clear skies, and was the first time I have hiked it in the fall." — noahthackeray • Oct 10, 2022

"Up Helon Taylor trail, across Knife's Edge and planned to go down saddle trail but it was closed so we had to go across Hamlin Peak and down to Chimney Pond. A long day, but so worth it." — punk_chick4243 • Jun 22, 2019
"Pamela was my last summit of the day. The views of Katahdin and the surrounding area was amazing. I didn't really enjoy the descent on the Helon Taylor trail, the boulders got more and more monotonous on the way down, I may have also just been getting slightly tired since it was towards the end of my hike. "Amazing trip to Baxter State Park...what an amazing day! Up Helon Taylor to Pamola, over Chimney to Knifes Edge, over South Peak to Baxter Peak. Then we decided to go over the ridge to Hamlin in order to work on my NE 67." — shay-shay • Sep 8, 2017
"The most beautiful and toughest hike of my life. Totally magical. Clear as a bell day with winds gusting over 100mph. Fell on the way down at 2:30pm, shattered my wrist requiring a plate and 11 screws surgery, and didn't get down until 8:30pm! (Started at 5:30am). Despite it all, I would do it all over again in a hearbeat!!! (Thanks Kevin Sweeney for being with me the whole way!)" — mfugel • Jul 3, 2016
"Another great hike. Traveled into Roaring Brook and climbed Pamola Peak The fog was too thick on the top to cross the knife edge so we went down Dudley Trail. Dudley is not a great trail to go down, but we all made it safe and sound to Chimney Pond.
Happy trails" — bwright • Jun 28, 2011
