"Went up via Corcoran Road entrance, up to Ruapane summit/Tirohanga track and across to the Pahuatea hut. Once at the hut we trekked to the Cone and back-it was very muddy. We left the hut the next morning via the Tahuanui track to the Kaniwhaniwha carpark. This was a fun walk for the two 10yr old boys and their Dads, the hike was well within their capabilities." — loganscott • Apr 24, 2023
"Hiked up to the Pahuatea hut where we put down out overnight packs and headed to the cone via bell track. In a word it was 'Mud' the kids mostly enjoyed jumping from log to log but it wasn't the fastest trip ever." — loganscott • Apr 24, 2023
"Started 7 pm on a rainy day after a heavily rainy week, extremely wet ground. A certain lack of human frequentation on this track with some branches across the way. Otherwise short and easy trail. Access requires to go throught some gates that have to stay closed for the horses living here." — etiennedelabarre • Feb 3, 2023
"Day 1- we went up the Billy goat track and set up camp at the Billy goat campsite and checked out the long trestle then hiked up the Hihi peak.
Day 2- We packed up camp, took a small hike down to the the sleeping god canyon and then we went up to the pinnacles campsite. Here we set up camp had lunch and summited the pinnacles peak, came back down had dinner and you guessed it summited the pinnacles again for sunset.
Day 3- we woke at 5am and summited pinnacles for a third time to see a cloudy sunrise and then came back down the mountain via the web creek track." — loganscott • Dec 29, 2022
"We summited Hihi via the Billy goat track, we set up camp at the Billy goat campsite and headed up it took about 2 hours up to the peak. There aren’t amazing views as the peak is quite flat but you can see both coast in places. " — loganscott • Dec 28, 2022
