"Excellent day. Went from the airport to the trail head. Not too many people on the trail , went up the backside Lions Lair trail, trail is in great shape and easy to navigate. Of course, I took the wrong trail about 1/2 mile on the way down , but I needed the exercise so it was a win win . " — puddlepirate • Aug 26, 2021
"Went on a long trek to get a good view of the ongoing Calwoods Fire. I figured Sanitas would be crowded so I tried Anemone first, but the fire was behind the ridge from the top of Anemone (which I should have known), so I went to Sanitas anyway up the less-crowded Lions Head trail. The views were epic and frightening; it sure was a sight I won't forget. Visited the summit rock of Dakota Ridge on the way back because I hadn't been in a while and it wasn't far out of the way." — wazoheat • Oct 17, 2020
"Longest trail run yet. Started from Eben G. Fine park, ran through Red Rocks on the Anenome side, then "ran" up the south ridge of Sanitas. Jogged down Lionshead Trail to the true summit (rock scramble off a social trail just east of the main trail), then returned to the classic summit to descend the east side trail. Took a detour along the Dakota Ridge trail to the Dakota Ridge highpoint (again a short scramble off a social trail just east of the main trail), then returned to descend the Sanitas Valley Trail. Took the Red Rocks Trail and scrambled to the Red Rocks highpoint before returning to Eben G. Fine." — wazoheat • Oct 8, 2019
"I've summitted Mount Sanitas 4 or 5 times now and every one has been a treat. It's a nice smaller mountain for beginners. The peak gives some nice views of Boulder below. Every time I've hiked it I've taken the Mount Sanitas trail up. All but one time I took the Sanitas Valley Trail back down - the other time I took the Lion's Lair trail around to the west side of the mountain. The Sanitas Valley trail meets back up with the Mount Sanitas trail at the start, whereas the Lion's Lair trail goes to a different lot a good distance away. I would definitely recommend descending the Sanitas Valley trail, as it's pretty steep for an ascent to the peak, but has some incredible views while descending." — Gray3 • Sep 26, 2018
"Climbed with Dan, Rosi, and Falko. Saw a really cool front come through on the descent.
We really should decide where the actual summit of Sanitas is...the highest point is on private land, but I'd argue that's a separate peak than the one we summited...." — wazoheat • Jan 2, 2017
"Overdid it... (just raced a 50 miler 4 days ago, then ran up a mtn and did over 3 hrs total... legs are trashed again) not going to be bagging peaks next weekend. Need to rest. www.gorunpure.com" — Josh.C.Arthur • May 15, 2013
