"Drove from home to Bruthen and on to Swifts Creek, then Brookville and on to Mount Baldhead. Set up near the trig to activate VK3/VG-027, making 14 contacts. Packed up and drove around to below Mount Delusion to park and walked to the high point. Set up below the summit and activated VK3/VG-026, making 13 contacts. Returned tot eh car and tried to drive around on Groves Gap Road. I was around 80% of the way across when I found a very large tree across the road. I retraced my route to Mount Delusion Road, then headed north. I drove around to below Peak 1137 m to park & walked to the top to set up and activate VK3/VG-157, making 15 contacts. packed up, returned to the car and drove around to Mount Phipps VK3/VG-015 to set up at the summit, making 8 contacts. The road was slippery, so I decided against headed to Mt Birregun and instead headed to Omeo for a meal and to stay overnight." — peterfreeman • Oct 9, 2020
"A day out around Omeo with Rik VK3EQ. We met at Swifts Creek and then travelled in my vehicle to Mount Baldhead VK3/VG-027. Set up near the summit and made 7 contacts. We then travelled around to Mount Delusion VK3/VT-026. where I made 6 contacts. Next we traversed across to Birregun Road and headed south to Mount Birregun VK3/VT-020 to set up near the summit, making 7 contacts. packed up and headed to Mount Phipps to set up at the summit, making 5 contacts. Headed towards Omeo and around to Peak1285 m to set up at the summit and made 8 contacts. "A trip home from Wodonga. Headed over Mount Hotham to Omeo and south to Birregun Road, then up Mount Phipps Track to the summit of Mount Phipps. Set up the radio gear at the summit to activate VK3/VG-015, making 22 contacts. Packed up and head back to Birregun Road and southwest to Mount Birregun. Set up at the summit to activate VK3/VT-020, making 15 contacts. I continued south to Dargo and then to Ferndale and the Princes Highway and then back home." — peterfreeman • Sep 16, 2018
"The first day of the official SOTA Summit weekend. Travelled to Mount Nugong. Walked to the trig and set up nearby to activate VK3/VG-018, making 5 contacts. Packed up and then travelled to Mount Bindi VK3/VG-017 to set up and make 5 contacts. Travelled to Mount Nunniong VK3/VG-011 to make 4 contacts. We then returned towards Omeo and made our way to Mount Birregun VK3/VT-020, where I made 4 contacts. Next was Mount Phipps VK3/VG-015 for 5 contacts before we packed up and returned to Hotham Heights for the night. "An early start for a long drive home from Wodonga. Drove out to Mitta Mitta and south to the side of Mt Wills, then headed east on Razorback Spur Track to park near the locked gate on Wombat Creek Track. Walked up the hill to the summit of Peak 1311 m VK3/VG-033 Razorback Range. Set up the radio gear and made 44 contacts. Packed up and returned to the car and drove back to the Omeo Highway and headed south to Knocker Track and on to Knocker Link Track. Walked to the summit trig at The Knocker VK3/VG-016 to set up and made 14 contacts. returned to the car and drove down Knocker Track to Hinnomumjie then south to Omeo and up to Sam Hill VK3/VG-049. I walked the final climb to the summit and set up, making 16 contacts. returned to car and drove into Omeo to buy something for lunch. Drove out towards Hotham, then down Cassilis Road to Upper Livingstone Road, Birregun Road and finally Mount Phipps Track to below the summit of Mount Phipps VK3/VG-015. Walked up to the summit to set up, this time making 14 contacts. returned to the car and drove south on Birregun Road to the western side of the summit to park. "First summit for the day. I had John as company. Drove from Hotham Heights towards Omeo, down Cassilis Road and then onto Birregun Road. Took Zig Zag Track to Mt Phipps Track to the summit of Mount Phipps VK3/VG-015 to park. Walked down the hill before returning to the summit to set up that radio gear and made 5 contacts. Packed up and continued along Mt Phipps Track down to Birregun Road, then south to the shoulder of Mt Birregun. Parked and walked up the hill to the summit of Mount Birregun VK3/VT-020 to set up, making 14 contacts. Packed up and returned towards Omeo, then up the hill to Mt Livingstone Road. Parked at the locked gate and walked up to the summit trig and set up nearby. "A day of SOTA en route to Wodonga to visit family. Drove to Bairnsdale, then north to Swifts Creek. Then up Cassilis Road to the junction with Mt Delusion Road, where I turned right and made my way around to near the summit of Mt Gingee Munjie. I climbed up to the remnants of the summit cairn and set up the radio gear. I made 22 contacts from VK3/VG-064 before packing up. I returned tot eh car and drove around to Mount Phipps, again parking below the summit. I climbed up and set up the radio gear. I made 20 contacts on VK3/VG-015 before packing up. I retraced my route back to Upper Livingstone Road and headed north to the Great Alpine Road and drove to the high point above Livingstone Road, turning north into an unnamed track. I drove in about a kilometre until the track was blocked by a fallen tree. I walked up to the high point, then headed west on an old track and made my way to the summit of Peak 1322 m, VK3/VG-030. I again set up the radio gear, this time making 23 contacts. I again packed up and headed back down to the car. I then returned to the Great Alpine Road and headed across Mount Hotham and north to Wodonga for the night." — peterfreeman • Sep 7, 2013
