"Was able to check off Marie Louise after visiting the Pinnacles. It was convenient since it was only a few miles away. Pilot Rock Road was a little bit rough for my liking, so I parked in the non-high clearance parking area shortly before the creek crossing. This added 2 miles (RT) of walking on the dirt road, but I had no problem with that. I followed HPS directions to get to the trailhead, and was surprised to find rock cairns marking the starting point. The route wasn’t always well marked, though, and I wandered off a few times. However, I realized that If I stayed in the gully, then I would find rock piles marking a route. It was a challenge climbing over boulders along the way, but also fun. This was a short and rugged adventure in a lightly visited hiking area. Pilot Rock Road was popular with ATVs, though." — MikeTeeples • Apr 18, 2021
"Peak 1/5 on the day. The road was pretty rough and I bottomed out my poor Camry yet again in pursuit of these HPS peaks. I parked 1/2 mile short of the trailhead to prevent any further damage then head out on foot up the gully. It was overcast and a pretty unremarkable peak, but there was some fun cl. 2 boulder hopping on the way up the creek bed." — klotito • Apr 1, 2018
"I was heading up here to climb the Pinnacles again, but decided to climb Marie Louise instead since I hadn't yet. I bushwacked about 3/4 the way up before finding the trail. I sat on top for awhile and watched an awesome sunset. Then headed down the trail getting to my car just before dark." — DerekJayRichardson • Apr 13, 2016
"Missed the right Trail from the beginning and Bushwhacked myself for 2 Hours to the Peak, Not Fun at all but I made it. Found the right Trail going down it it was less than 30 Minutes down. " — Nuernberger • Nov 30, 2015
"It is a truly gnarly road to get here; there is absolutely no chance for a regular sedan to make it to the "official" trailhead. However, there's a parking area right where you turn left from SR 173 onto Pilot Rock Road (2N33). Starting from there would add nearly 4 miles of easy hiking on a dirt road, but it would make this peak accessible to anyone. (And the total mileage would still be only 6 miles.)" — HikerMark • Nov 7, 2015
