"Decent snow pack now on the mountain. Used snowshoes up Winslow and down Barlow. Lower half of Barlow was trashed by Postholio, so shoes made it so much easier. A lot less wind that expected on a nice sunny summit." — Alohabuffy • Jan 15, 2024
"Took Winslow trail up and Barlow down. Winslow was a steady climb up. Easy to navigate. The summit was incredible. Beautiful panoramic views. Barlow was slippery. Harder to find safe paths down. " — HikingMomMC • Sep 14, 2023
"Took Winslow up and Winslow down. Very few bugs but a lot of wet rocks as it rained that morning. Winslow trail is easy first half, hard at the halfway point, then more moderate in second half. Very nice summit with views and towers.

"A couple of inches of fresh snow have made this trek up the usually icy Winslow trail much easier. Surprisingly calm winds atop. Really nice alpenglow on the northern mountains view from Barlow." — Alohabuffy • Dec 24, 2021
"Hiked Mount Kearsarge via the Lincoln Trail. Very warm and sunny today. Trail was mostly dry with some muddy spots. Really nice views. I forgot to turn on my watch until 20 minutes in, but was about 2,700 feet vertical and over 9 miles. Took the Rollins trail loop for the first 0.5 miles from the summit as the Lincoln trail was steep on the last push to the summit." — mattgardner • May 15, 2021
"Parked at the closed gate for the summit road. After hiking the road (wintertime) went up Winslow (bare booted) and down Barlow (with the spikes) since I was burning daylight. Only a few icy spots to be aware of on both trails. One more Firetower climb left!" — SteveM_StickMan • Jan 14, 2021
"Wanted to get in a climb before a massive rain storm moved in. Kearsarge was perfect for that. Lots of snow and good base. Perfect for snowshoes. Plenty of high winds whipping across the summit. But bearable in the 30s. Merry Christmas!" — Alohabuffy • Dec 24, 2020
"Mount Kearsarge was an interesting climb. The peak is much more flat and surveys across a variety of views. The trail we took down was very steep and rocky. Still a fun climb! There’s a big fire tower and look out tower at the top. Lots of nice places to sit and look at the views. " — laurenwehner • Nov 8, 2020
"Winter is almost here. Trail was very wet with recent rain and runoff+ leaves made descent on the Barlow Trail especially slick....be careful. Around 2600', there was a steady increase in snow and some ice on the trail. Just enough to make one look down and think about foot placement. Later in the morning as the temperatures rose, there was significant melting so the trails were less icy/snowy.
The views from the firepower were stupendous with lots of color everywhere and dense undercast in the valleys. You could see Mt Washington, over 65 miles away, in all of it's snow-capped beauty. Other than the cold wind, it was a perfect day to find peaks at the summit. " — rjnick • Oct 18, 2020
"Nora, Kali and I hiked up the Winslow Trail to the summit, returning by the Barlow Trail to make a nice loop.
It was chilly on the way up and pretty cold at the top, but we hunkered down and had lunch before descending. The views are awesome from the summit, and the first ledges on Winslow are pretty great too. There were nice ledge views on the way back on the Barlow Trail too.
The lower part of Barlow is beautiful as well, but instead of ledge views, you have roots and fir needles to walk on and pretty woods to look at.
The Winslow Trail is short and moderate to fairly steep, while the Barlow Trail is .7 longer and much more moderate to easy. It was nice having the less steep descent, having gotten the steeps out of the way on the way up.
The only thing that makes this mountain less than 100% awesome is the ginormous cell phone tower with its accompanying sheds at the summit. The fire tower is normal and didn't really detract from the experience for me, but the cell tower really stood out like a very sore thumb. At least the sheds were mostly hidden in the trees just below the summit.
Still, this is a wonderful hike with fabulous views and not one to miss." — Hufflepuff • Oct 15, 2019
