"Used a mix of GPS routes from Eric Kassan's 2012 ascent and Jen Chapman's 2016 ascents combined with my wayfinding (because I'm like that and hate checking my GPS when I just *know* that this way is easier). Not the same route as Kevin Humes & Amber Cavazos in 2015. We came up in the gulley between Morey Peak and North Morey Peak, but on the Morey Peak side of the middle "bump". It was steep as hell and some serious bushwhacking the entire time (up and down). I traversed over to North Morey solo, and then came back over the bump to rejoin the group and head to Morey Peak itself. We found the benchmark and the cairn, but no summit register, which was odd. It was WINDY on the peak - my hat nearly took me airborne off the side of the mountain (meep!). Other than that, the weather was great - nice and sunny. Lots of bugs, watch for ticks - Henry found one on him. So many ants; we all were bitten many times as we stopped for breaks. Our descent route was the gulley South of Morey Peak - it was STEEP. Perhaps a bit less bushwhacking than the ascent route, but not by much. Started at the beginning of the Forest Road that's the "old/unmaintained Jeep road." "Drove up to Table Mountain from Las Vegas Friday night. Arrived at about 2am. Started the hike around 3am, since there were supposed to be thunderstorms in the late morning. Finished that hike, then drove around to South Sixmile Canyon, which we took to our trailhead along one of the forest roads. This road was very overgrown (some weeds in the road were 3-5 feet high) with 13 wet creek crossings! At about 3pm, we thought, "Wow. This is close & we feel pretty good. Maybe we should give it a shot today, in case there are more storms tomorrow." We got about 1/3 of the way up the mountain & started hearing thunder & seeing lightning. As soon as the lightning got closer, we bailed & headed back to the Jeep, where we set up camp. The next morning, we started early (3am), since there were more thunderstorms in the forecast. We got a little bit past where we stopped the day before then had to wait 30 minutes for the sun to come up, since the brush was getting bad. Also, I was having stomach issues, so the break was good. Once it was light, we scrambled up the steep ridge to a point just North of Morey Peak North, which many say is higher than the benchmarked peak. We scrambl..." — Kevin • Aug 2, 2015
