"We departed from PJ at 1am, and reached Lata Belatan at about 7:30am. Most of us did not get enough sleep.
Crossed one river and two streams. No shoes are removed, but balancing is needed to cross the third stream. (Thanks angel, for lending me your poles. Without ‘em, I’ll have to hike up the mountain with wet feet.)
The peak is surrounded by bonsai trees. On a clear day, you can see Perhentian Island. I made a half ass attempt to locate the elusive lookout point, but to no avail. Maybe I was just too tired. 😖
Really love the vibe... hikers helping hikers, the encouragements, new friendships and alone time with nature.
Some hikers ran out of water. Some did not peak (cut off time is 1pm). Some experienced muscle cramps (me included). And some were stung by wasps.
The KLHG organizers did a great job to make this possible. It’d be a nightmare to handle a group of 56 people with different personalities, different age groups and different expectations. But everything went well, and the trip was awesome!" — Tailor • Apr 27, 2019
"This is our expedition flow for the recent Mount Gelemat trail-blazing expedition from 4th to 7th January 2012. The original target was to achieve summit of Gelemat, and guess what we had found in this journey? (please keep reading). Gelemat is a local language/dialect and bringing the same meaning of “totally dark”. As usual, we stick with the plan, armed with the map and compass in our hand, GR locked with GPS and an extra hand from local people makes this journey so called perfecto.
Complete expedition reports please refer http://wildjunction.com/gelemat" — nkamri • Jan 6, 2012
"This is a popular recreational (easy) hiking spot among the locals. I was there with few friends as part of preparation for Mt Kinabalu. The trail is basically an old paved road that was constructed for telecommunication tower on the hill's top." — ibnunizar • Oct 29, 2011
