"I ran around the Wildflower loop at Rhododendron state park, then hiked Little monadnock. My dog Molly was with me. It was a beautiful day to be outside. I found a lady slipper on the way up. When I was close to the top a family was hiking down and the father asked me if his daughter could have some of my water. I was wearing a camelback and they hadn't planned on hiking up, but decided to after they ran a few laps if the Wildflower loop. She had gotten really thirsty bed was struggling, threatening her dad she would drink from the stream once they got there. I shared, of course. They were on their way, and I to the summit. Beautiful view of Mount Monadnock from the top. It was gorgeous. A quick, relatively easy hike. Molly and I ran/hiked it down. :) " — GirlRunner99 • Jun 7, 2014
"Great, short hike with the Bean. The trail is flat for a decent portion of the hike, and the "up" was gradual and easy. We checked out both the summit and the ledge called North Meadow, on the M-M Trail, which is where the great views are. It was really cool to see Monadnock so close. We had a lot of fun pretending to be different animals, but mostly Lily wanted to be a lizard. So we were. :-)
It took us 2:12 to go 3.24miles. Great day, awesome kid, tons of fun. " — KeepCalmClimbOn • Jul 21, 2013
"I suggested hiking Little Monadnock Mountain for this hike with Lauren. I had just hiked Mt. Monadnock the previous week, and it was icy. Without two sets of good traction, a smaller hike seemed safer, and probably more enjoyable. It was a good choice. I found a text description of a loop hike over the mountain, and it seemed somewhat complex. Furthermore, I could not find a map that included all of the trails that were mentioned. It made me a little wary, but we decided to go for it.
The hike started in Rhododendron State Park, and the rhododendron bushes are just so cool. Lauren remarked that they looked out of place in a New Hampshire forest. We took a bunch of great pictures as we meandered through the park. Eventually we reached the trail that would bring us up the mountain.
The trail so far had been icy, but we did not put on any traction. The trail remained icy most of the way up the mountain. We made our way up quickly, passing through an area that had been strategically logged, and along an old stone wall.
We reached the end of the trail, which is an intersection with the Metacomet-Monadnock (MM) trail. The trail runs from Mt. Monadnock to a peak in Connecticut, ..." — GSDTheFlea • Feb 21, 2012
"A leisurely trip up here with the dogs today. I fear it was Otto's last trip up as there were several areas where I had to assist with his climb."Old Bones Otto" needs to slow down. A great trip nonetheless. " — VonSelmer • Dec 12, 2011
"Went from Rhododenron state park to Little Monad peak and then the M&M trail down to Widow Gage road (very interesting area with old cellar holes and a large Beaver pond to the east. and then back to the parking lot. 4 miles in total." — mikezilla • Jul 2, 2011
"Another rainy day hike. The views seemed like they would be nice if they could have been seen! The trails through Rhododendron State Park were amazing. I can't wait to see them in bloom. " — VonSelmer • May 17, 2011
