"This was a short and fast hike. We started this hike at 10 AM after completing the Cowles Mountain hike. It stated out steep and muddy. Then we climbed up to the ridge and saw some great views of nearby CA-52. The trail seemed to be never-ending, until we reached the flat area near the summit. The summit had a cool sign and the views were mid." — lc444 • Jan 11, 2023
"Another big day today, bagging 7 more peaks from the SD 100 Peak Challenge (Derek's List). Started out by completed the Mission Trails 5 Peak Challenge (Cowles, Pyles, Kwaay Paay, North Fortuna and South Fortuna). Then on my way back I decided to complete Tooth Rock and Twin Peaks. "Got to the trailhead at daybreak. Took the East Trail as there was a man with his German Shepard on the main trail playing fetch (dogs at play and toddlers who chase dogs don't always go hand in hand). Once passing the grassland there's a slight incline starting up the mountain. Going at a moderate pace it wasn't difficult. Getting closer to the summit the trail does become a bit more steep. Still , if pacing yourself it's a workout on the legs, but still nothing too difficult. The high brush made it near impossible to view the summit, which I found to be kind of fun. Glad we got to the summit early. On our way down we passed an endless amount of people coming up. " — spr_kween • Sep 15, 2018

"Was checking out the Old Mission Dam and decided to hike up Kwaay Paay peak on that day. I started the hike in the middle of the day (around 2pm) so it wasn't the best time but the hike was short and nice. The final part of the ascent was pretty hard though. Made it to the top in less than an hour.
I think I only ran into 2 other hikers on that day. Very quiet trail. " — andyrakka • Mar 15, 2012
