"After a failed attempt to follow Paddy Dillon's route in the Cicerone book (forest ride completely impassable), I found a signed route starting at IS 81386 47895 - parking possible nearby. The path heads south between two walls, emerging at a gate into open country. Here the path turns right, over another gate. I failed to spot the route on the ascent, ending up on a tough bracken and heather bash to reach the broad north ridge. Here I found the path, and reached the flat top. I visited both the summit cairn and HP on a nearby peat hag - marked with a cross of stones. I returned by the path all the way down. Solo.
Cloudy, with hill-fog above 500m." — marktrengove2 • Oct 12, 2021
"Parked at the Nine Stones car park (IS 81709 54613) and took the aerial access road (tarmac) all the way up, as the road was closed to vehicles. Visited the trig in a ruined granite mound before descending by my outward route. Solo.
Dull and cloudy, with hill-fog above 400m." — marktrengove2 • Oct 12, 2021
"Parked in the White Heaps car park (IO 26132 25663) and took the blue way-marked trail all the way to the craggy summit - first on the windfarm grit road through fir forest, then a narrower track through spruce, then 500m hiking up over open moor. Returned the same way.
Hill-fog to the summit, but then it cleared to sunshine. WSW wind." — marktrengove2 • Oct 9, 2021
"The second time I climbed Mount Leinster was in May 2019 when we did the Blackstairs marathon walk. This walk is 33 km in length with 1600 metres of ascent and takes you over the Blackstairs mountains on the Carlow-Wexford border including Mount Leinster." — hannahaapio • May 18, 2019
