"Peak #3 in Jes' Birthday Peakbagging Bonanza! This was a "plan B" drive-up peak. The original plan was Hurricane Hill (as we were staying in Hurricane), but we ran into google maps/natural atlas being out-of-date versus current property rights/ownership (aka: locked gate off of the community where everything else shows an access road). But we were thwarted, and I went for a hail mary: let's go do Gooseberry Mesa, because I've driven past these mesas outside of Hurricane and didn't know that there were roads that lead you to the top of them! This one is accessed via "Main Street" (which has... zero houses and stores on it, unlike the other streets) of Apple Valley, UT, off of UT-59/highway 389 (the main drag between Hurricane and Fredonia/Kanab). Drive back that dirt road ("Main Street") for quite a while, make a left turn into public lands property, and then wind your way up with gorgeous views of the cliffs of Zion to your north/your right. So many people were camping up on Gooserberry Mesa in distributed/primitive camping. The dirt road is well-graded and in very good shape up to the Gooseberry Mesa trailhead.
