"My first VT Fire Tower just over the NH border. It gets you above the trees and the views are awesome! The top cab portion is not enclosed however, so you need to be prepared for windy conditions. Attempted to take the longer bike path down but lost the trail about halfway down due to leaf drop and lack of trail markings." — SteveM_StickMan • Nov 5, 2023
"The main feature of this trails is stairs. Stone stairs are the primary way to gain altitude on this trail. The Fire Tower view is not great, but at this time of the year, we have beautiful colours." — pierredenommee • Sep 20, 2019
"Very humid and slippery. Looks like some trail maintenance was in the middle of being completed, lots of bags of sand and tools and flagstone, etc. Tower is shaky but climbable. " — Commonwealthy • Sep 18, 2016
"A day with a number of surprises. For example, it was the first time we have seen a hiking trail that had loops off of it and back on for bicycles. A shared trail, with some sections for one activity or the other.
Surprised by "shred shrack" just below fire tower, which had numerous interesting paintings inside and out. Perhaps the shed had been a fire observer's cabin at one time, but it has been greatly altered?
Fine views from the tower.
Only bad part of the trip was that Frank fell backwards and abraded his arm. I was right behind him and managed to protect his head from banging hard on the ground/rock.
We two old folks took two hours for 1.5 miles, rated as doable in one hour for average hiker. This was NOT one of the big surprises of the day." — barbaratraver • Aug 8, 2014
"After a scenic hike of Ascutney and lunch at King Arthur Flour we headed over to Gile to visit another firetower. The top-less cab of the tower allowed a 360 degree views of the fall colors near peak." — Nimblefoot • Oct 3, 2013
