"I had seen this pretty mountain a few weeks earlier & knew then that I wanted to climb it from the Jubilee Pass side on the south ridge. I started at the Rhodes Spring cabin & started up a beautiful wash filled with spring flowers. Everything was really green. Next, I headed up through the colorful foothills. This part required some route finding. Eventually, I got to the main ridge. This entire hike is loose & much of it is really steep. It alternates between gravel, scree & talus. It was exhausting, but so pretty. The yellowish sections are the loosest. I think I had more issues coming back down, but hiking poles helped immensely. On the summit, a packrat in the summit cairn rocks startled me! He was kinda cute though. The mountain is also covered in geodes, chalcedony roses & other crystals. The views from the top are stunning over Death Valley. I could see Telescope, the Spring Mountains & many more. I hadn't done anything this hard in some time & I was ridiculously slow, but enjoyed it immensely." — StudioHoodoo • Mar 17, 2024
