"Survived my first week at my new job, huzzah! Slept in later than I intended, but these things happen. Happily, the weather has cooled off one last time before the summer heat really starts baking us here in Phoenix, so even though I didn't hit the trail until >9:30 AM, there was a nice breeze and the temps never went above 80-83°F. That being said, there's a reason I had sun sleeves, sunglasses, a sun hat, and leggings on instead of shorts and a tank-top. There's absolutely *no shade* on this trail. I managed to get turned around twice - first when I started, I missed the little connector to the "C" (Circumference) trail from the big residential-area-connector path I was on. Oops! Worked my way up C til it hit a massive crossroads and jumped on to the "R" (Ridgeline) trail, followed that to the left/west as it wound its way uphill. From the saddle, which is the highest point the official trail reaches, I saw a faint use-trail from other peak-baggers and followed it south-east along the ridgeline to gain the actual summit. About went through the roof with shock when I crested the first outcropping of volcanic rock and found a human person... body... lying on the ground, their face ..." — psychikingjes • May 22, 2021
"took the circumference trail eastward up to the ridgeline trail. Once I reached the ridgeline, I realized that there's some scrambling involved off trail to reach the true summit. Fun surprise. " — easotelo1 • Oct 16, 2020
