"Solo. Hiked up this weird little peak on a somewhat hazy day just for something to do while my friends that I'm staying with were at work. Wasn't on my list of to-do's while I'm down here but it was an easy tourist hike and it was nice to stretch my legs. The trails were wide and mostly red clay and gravel, and very well marked, not that you could ever mistakenly walk off the blatant trail. The stairs leading to the summit had a very strange rise over run, and at the summit some guy was taking a nap on one of the viewpoints, and on the other was a group of loud drunk older ladies, so I only stayed up there for a few photos then returned back the way I came. "I must have climbed Crowders at least 25 times over the years, mostly to get to various climbing walls. It has lovely views but is nicknamed "Crowded Mountain" for a reason since it gets heavy traffic on nice days. The best months to hike to the top are between October 1 to May 1. Summer months are punishing -- avoid July and August if possible." — tlannin • Nov 6, 1993
