"Hiked Reese Trail from Graybeard Mountain Overlook to Craggy Dome peak. Nearly 360-degree view from peak, but cloudy at this altitude on this day.
After hiking Unicoi Gap to Rocky Mountain, I read that is the most difficult section of the Appalachian Trail in Georgia. Reese Trail is just as difficult if not more so. Trail is steep and narrow through the bushes (long pants and sleeves recommended), but the most difficult sections are where you must be careful with each step. A long stride and hiking poles help." — davidensley • Nov 8, 2020
"Today was quite the warm day, with temperatures on the trail around 75. I hiked up the Mountains-to-Sea Trail from Greybeard Mountain Overlook. It was a short, but steep hike.
About 100-200 yards in, the trail veers to the right to cross the BRP. At that point I went to the left and followed a well established trail. After a short time the trail began ascending up the mountain. There are a couple of quick scrambles over rocks.
After passing through a rocky, mossy area, the trail closed in, as there were many thick rhodedens along the way. I came upon a false summit and stopped for a breather.
Once I got to the top, the views were expansive and amazing. There were several overlapping trails on the summit, but all seemed to lead back to the main path. There were 3 different borders up there that I could stand on to see above the trees and brush. " — ChrisM • May 13, 2018
"Parked at Greybeard overlook and picked up MST heading NE. Continued down MST past Glasmine Falls Overlook then retraced to Locust Ridge. Bushwhacked ~1.5mi down Locust Ridge to an overgrown service road, then turned left on FS 74 leading to the Douglas Falls trailhead. Followed the trail to Douglas Falls, then began the ascent back to Greybeard Overlook. Just before reaching the parking spot, turned right on a claustrophobic overgrown trail leading straight up a ~38 degree grade to the peak of Craggy Dome, then retraced back to my parking spot to complete the loop.
