Climb the 12 peaks of the Belknap Range in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. The 8-mile long Belknap Range is of modest elevation and lies to the west of Lake Winnipesaukee in the towns of Gilford, Gilmanton, and Alton. All 12 peaks have trails to the summit and can be completed as day hikes. A great first peak challenge for up-and-coming mountain enthusiasts. "Meetup group hike. Second time up to the summit today on the way back from Belknap Mt. Took the Marge's and Iron Mines trails down. Marge's was a little tough to find since the sign at the BRT junction is somewhat hidden." — SteveM_StickMan • Dec 23, 2023
"Meetup group hike. No snow except at the Gunstock ski area summit. Occasional ice patches easily bypassed. The recent firetower step reconstruction is completed and is in great shape! Good views despite the clouds." — SteveM_StickMan • Dec 23, 2023
"Hiked the Brook and Main Trail Loop on this windy, fall day to see the color-changing leaves. The parking lot was full at 10:30am, so we had to park along the main road about a quarter mile away. Easy to moderate hike with a few rock scrambles on the way up and down. Great views of Lake Winnipesaukee at the wide open summit many rock ledges to sit at. Good hike for dogs, about 3.75 miles in 2.5 hours. " — gregoryskiba • Oct 8, 2023
"1.3 miles up the gunstock mountain trail to the summit. 1,200 elevation climb. Nice hike! Hard but steady and the trail was easy to follow. Not much of a summit but beautiful views walking around the ski area. Then took the trail to blue trail to belknap mountain which was moderate. The summit was very disappointing. No view! Maybe there is a decent view from the fire tower but it was under construction. Then white trail down the mountain to the parking area. " — HikingMomMC • Sep 21, 2023
