After climbing Mount Shasta on the 2 days before, we decided to drive through Lassen Volcanic National Park on our way back to Vegas. Antsy to get out of the car for some exercise, we decided to bag this peak. There was still plenty of snow. Since it was kind of warm, we did our best to avoid the snow as much as possible on the way up, not wanting to have to post-hole. Near the summit, there was a big snow field that we couldn't go around, so we gave in & crossed it. No post-holing required! Since the snow was firm, we followed the snow covered ridge all the way back & saved a lot of up & down.
