"Didn't know Brummies existed. I was at the Wollumbin Festival down in Tyalgum (not sure of date actually) camped with friends. Hot day, friends were all sitting around under pavilions, but I decided to go for a walk uphill and get some exercise. Only had 1/2 bottle of water, not expecting to go far. But the heights called... and called. Past houses and farms, suddenly there was a huge dark green abrupt wall of rainforest ahead with a sign: "Wollumbin State Forest". As I crossed the threshold (that's what it was like - going through a portal into another world) one thing struck me profoundly: the quality of the air. It was the most intensely fresh, invigorating, pure air I had breathed anywhere in the world! I felt my whole body expand and lighten. It was like food and medicine all in one and I felt like I could live on it! I walked up the track between the massive old trees, can't recall how long it was, and came to a place called Brummies Lookout. I sat on a tree that was leaning out of a precipitous drop, and there, filling most of my view, was Wollumbin itself - Mount Warning the supervolcano remnant.
