"Tom. Black and I left Whiteface parking lot at 8:06 am. Cloudy and 28 degrees. Trail in good shape. Micros all the way. Great views of Whiteface and skiers and ranges beyond. Up and down in 2 hours 6 minutes. Off to Baxter." — garyogden • Feb 28, 2021
"Some days you just need a nice little hike with friends, great little trek up Bear Den and Flume, and then off to Big Slide for a curbside - another little hike for the ADK 6 pack." — deb-and-rob • Jun 7, 2020
"Hiked both Flume Knob & Bear Den via The Flume Trail System in Wilmington. No views from Flume as the cloud cover was thick early, but there were
decent views of Whiteface from Bear Den. The upper portion of the trail to Bear Den was poorly marked & required a short bushwhack to get to the
top. Icy conditions with the recent weather so micro spikes were definitely needed.

"the fall foilage was amazing! I loved this hike. Note: the trail is very well marked at the beginning of the trail, but as you hike up the trail, the markers are more sparse. " — mom23ADK • Oct 3, 2019
"A great cloudy with sun kind of solo day to clear my head by finishing off my LP9er climbs,, Pitchoff Mountain was semi steep and very slippery in areas with wet rock scrambles, Balanced Rocks was very cool to see and ended up hiking the whole sentinel range then descending the mountain to highway and walking back to car along roadway all and all about 5 hour hike back to the car. Then off to Bears Den at Whiteface ski resort in Wilmington N.Y. The water falls and streams along the drive were an extra bonus and checking out the fishermen along the route,, Trail was wet in a lot of areas but not much mud and no bugs today, A continual incline but very nice hike meeting up with a few other like wise hikers along the route to chat with of the experience,, About 2 1/2 hours to climb and descend then an hour snooze in the car before the 3hr. drive home,, Love the Adirondacks " — ramjet1963 • May 11, 2019
"Finally a break in the weather, somewhat clear skies and no rain. The past week has been wet and cold, with snow above 2000 feet.
So today we went up Bear Den Mountain over by Whiteface and then after that we hiked up Silver Lake Mountain by Silver Lake. We encountered a little snow on the ground above 2000 feet but outside of that conditions were good sun was out and temps in the upper 30's to low 40's. Great views from both peaks for not too much effort." — hbotc • Nov 4, 2018
"Set out to finish the LP9er and Alternate 29er (Flume Knob). Got lucky with the weather (ish), it was supposed to rain all day, but we got a little bit of Sun along the way. It was windy and icy cold at the top though, so didn't hang around too long. Views were limited, but not terrible." — HikingViking • Oct 31, 2018
